The Chinese yuan (CNY) is the currency of the People's Republic of China. One yuan is subdivided into 10 jiao, which in turn is subdivided into 10 fen, though fen are now rarely used in circulation. Coins are denominated 1 fen, 2 fen, 5 fen, 1 jiao, 5 jiao and 1 yuan; banknotes are denominated 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 yuan (the 1, 2 and 5 fen and 2 yuan banknotes are practically out of use). The ISO numeric code for the yuan is 156.
